Croda unveils SPF-boosting data on hair care ingredient

Croda has unveiled new SPF-boosting data about its Crodabond CSN hair care ingredient.

Crodabond CSN is a 100% naturally derived emollient proven to provide long-lasting cuticle sealing and split-end repair for damaged hair.

The data reveals that Crodabond CSN can also enhance the efficacy of organic and inorganic UV filters to provide a cost-effective solution to achieve high SPF claims.

Crodabond CSN is proven to boost SPF and UVA protection by up to 111% by enhancing the film forming properties of sunscreens, improving UV filter distribution and spreadability on the skin.

By boosting protection across the UV spectrum and facilitating the use of less UV filter, Crodabond CSN offers formulators a flexible and cost-effective solution to achieve high SPF claims, without compromising on performance or sensory aesthetics

"At Croda, we believe that true innovation goes beyond efficacy – it builds trust” said Hannah Critchley, Head of Marketing - Skin Care at Croda Beauty.

"At a time where consumers are looking for science-backed beauty products, our latest data for Crodabond CSN embodies that principle, helping brands create sun care formulations that deliver consistent, proven protection through enhanced film formation and optimised distribution of UV filters,” she added.

“Creating reliable sun care formulations that consumers trust is ever more important with increased scrutiny of SPF testing practices.”

By lowering the amount of UV filter required in formulation, Crodabond CSN can also help to improve the environmental impact of sunscreens by reducing the carbon footprint of formulations containing inorganic UV filters by up to 13.5%.
