Preparation:
- Phase A*. Pre-dispersion of Algica® Prepare a 1% Algica® slurry using a dispersion agent such as Polyhydroxystearic Acid (PHSA) in Olive Squalane, 0.1 g Algica® + 0.2 g PHSA + Squalane q.s. to 10 g. Melt PHSA in Squalane. Sprinkle in Algica®. Heat to 65°C and stir gently until smooth. Mix for 15 min. Keep gentle stirring until combining with phase B to avoid sedimentation.
- Phase B. Melting Combine remaining Olive Squalane, Soy wax and Rice wax pellets in a beaker. Heat to ~75-80°C until melted and clear. Stir gently. Incorporate Algica® Pre-Dispersion: Add pre-dispersed Algica® slurry into the warm oil blend under gentle stirring for 10–15 min.
- Phase C. Cooling Phase When below 45°C, add dermofeel® Toco 50 non -GMO
- Phase D. Optional Essential oil. Stir gently and pour into clean jars.
Notes:
Key Formulation Notes (per SAF Guidelines) • Always pre-disperse Algica® with dispersion agent before adding to the bulk phase. • Maintain gentle stirring during cooling to avoid settling. • Avoid cationic ingredients. • Temperature stability: >100°C. • Target use level: 0.10% Algica® (0.10 g per 100 g batch). ! Do not use Ultrasonication ! Do not crush or grind
Final Product Characteristics: Deeply nourishing vegan balm with silky skin feel.
