Spanish cosmetic actives maker Provital has launched the third edition of its Rising Stars Challenge open to students of cosmetic formulation at any level, from anywhere in the world.
As in previous editions, students are challenged to create a formula that includes the Provital ingredient assigned to them.
The contest will be divided into two phases.
In phase 1, 'Presentation of the project', all students must present their formula following the instructions below:
• The formula must contain at least 90% natural-origin content.
• Packaging is completely open, although sustainable proposals will be positively valued.
• The product format is also open to the candidate’s choice, with minimalist formulations being positively valued.
The jury will first evaluate the proposals and select one finalist for each of the 11 product subcategories from our CareActives and CareMotives.
These 11 finalists’ formulations will be featured in Rising Stars’ materials and on Provital’s social media.
The same jury will then choose the overall 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners from among these 11 finalists, regardless of their subcategory.
In phase 2, 'Creation of the formula', the 11 finalists will have the opportunity to further develop their formulas, allowing the jury to evaluate additional parameters such as stability, texture, and colour, among others, before selecting the overall winner of this contest phase.
The official language of the contest is English, and registration is totally free.
The three winners of the first phase and the one from the second phase will receive a diploma, a monetary award, and a gift from Misceo.
Registration will open on 12 January and will remain open until 22 June.
"Creativity, originality, and cosmetic knowledge will once again be the key criteria used by the jury to evaluate each proposal," said a spokeswoman.
"This year’s jury is made up of experienced professionals from different areas of the industry, experts who are genuinely committed to guiding and inspiring the next generation of formulators," she added.
