The UK Society of Cosmetic Scientists (SCS) handed out two brand new awards recognising contributions to the society and wider cosmetic science at its annual Formulate event in Coventry, UK.
Dr Paul Cornwell of TRI Princeton won the SCS Contributor of the Year prize while Cosmetic Scientist of the Year went to Stephenson’s Lilah Bibi.
Cornwell (pictured, centre) heads up SCS’s annual conference committee and also contributes to the Evaluation and Statistics modules on its Cosmetics Science Diploma course.
Caroline Holford, SCS marketing manager and lead judge for the award, said: “We decided to create a new award this year to celebrate the volunteers who help to run initiatives within the SCS.
“As head office have a holistic view of the Society, we were well placed to choose our inaugural winner,” she added.
“Paul is a joy to work with as he is an organised, well-connected, encouraging and inspirational leader – he is able to keep the team on track in terms of deadlines and budgets, and the annual conference is going from strength to strength under his leadership.”
The other new SCS Formulate award, Cosmetic Scientist of the Year, recognises formulator talent in the industry.
Nominated or self-nominated via an essay or poster, the award was judged by the SCS Executive Committee – including President Dan Whitby, Immediate Past President John Lofthouse, Vice-President Astrid Bodard plus the secretary, treasurer and head of operations.
