Melt&Marble earns first INCI name, beefs up personal care team

Swedish biotech outfit Melt&Marble, which uses precision fermentation to produce designer lipids, has secured its first personal care ingredient INCI name.

Personal Care Products Council has approved the International Nomenclature Cosmetic Ingredient (INCI) name r-Saccharomyces Butter for Melt&Marble’s Marble7 personal care lipid.

Marble7 is a soft solid fat that melts at skin temperature, enhancing formulation sensory performance while delivering bio-active fatty acids that provide targeted skin benefits.

An INCI name is required for ingredients to be sold in the global personal care market.

“This milestone represents a significant step forward for Melt&Marble and underscores our progress across product development, regulatory readiness and scale-up,” said CEO Anastasia Krivoruchko.

“With Marble7 now carrying its INCI name, and our important recent hires, we’re well-positioned to launch our first personal care product this year and bring more sustainable, high-performance lipids to the market,” she added.

Melt&Marble has meanwhile strengthened its commercial and application leadership ahead of its first market launches.
