Swiss cellulose-based materials manufacturer Seprify has appointed Grolman Group to distribute its SilvaLuma ingredient across the European Union, the UK and Turkey.
As a cellulose-based, next-generation functional ingredient, SilvaLuma reduces reliance on controversial UV filters and fossil-based polymers, offers a favourable carbon-footprint profile, and enables the transition to a circular economy, while maintaining performance parity in real cosmetic formulations.
Following 20+ months of R&D and validation, the innovative cellulose-based ingredient is now being deployed commercially to support SPF boosting and mattifying performance in skin care and sun care formulations across the continent.
Seprify will provide scientific know-how and manufacturing capability to support formulators during development and scale-up.
The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to circular ingredient systems, combining Seprify’s cellulose-based materials platform with Grolman’s sustainability-led portfolio strategy and close engagement with European formulators.
Beyond initial customer deployment, Seprify and the Grolman Group plan to continue joint market development through coordinated customer outreach and technical education, supporting informed adoption across priority cosmetic applications.
“We are seeing strong interest from our cosmetics customers in functional ingredients that combine performance with credible sustainability,” said Florian Grolman, Managing Director of Grolman Group.
“SilvaLuma addresses a clear need in SPF and complexion applications, where brands are looking for alternatives to conventional mineral solutions without compromising on formulation quality,” he added.
“Working closely with Seprify allows us to bring this innovation to market in a way that is both technically robust and commercially relevant for our customers.”
SilvaLuma will be integrated into Grolman Group’s cosmetics portfolio to support customer adoption and scalable uptake across key European markets, as part of Seprify’s broader cellulose technology platform already being deployed across multiple application industries.
Lukas Schertel, CEO of Seprify said: “SilvaLuma was developed to deliver real functional benefits in cosmetics while avoiding the trade-offs often associated with fossil-based or mined ingredients.
“Launching in Europe with the Grolman Group allows us to support formulators, respond to growing demand for performance-driven, bio-based solutions and scale access to SilvaLuma in a structured and reliable way.”
