Glucomannan-based multifunctional ingredient

To meet the growing demand for multifunctional and easy-to-use cosmetic ingredients, Inabata France has developed Inagel Green, hereafter known as GluCPX, a natural texturizing agent based on a polymer extracted from konjac, a Japanese root vegetable.

GluCPX is a synergistic ingredient blend primarily composed of glucomannan, dispersed in an oil matrix containing caprylic/capric triglycerides, polyglyceryl-4-laurate (PG4L), and a small amount of xanthan gum.

This specific composition allows the material to be provided as a fluid paste that is easy to handle and incorporate into formulations. Because the glucomannan is pre-dispersed in the oil phase, GluCPX develops viscosity only when added in water. This self-emulsification facilitates rapid dispersion.

Previous work demonstrated that this glucomannan-based blend can strongly influence oil-in-water emulsions by increasing viscosity, modulating droplet size, and improving short-term stability, indicating a functionality that extends beyond conventional thickening.1
