Preparation:
Procedure 100g batch
- A*Pre-wet Algica®: Combine 0.10 g Algica® with 3.0 g Glycerin (≈1:30 ratio). Let hydrate for at least 6 hours or overnight. Dilute with part of the distilled water (6.9 g) to create a 1% Algica® dispersion. Stir for 30 minutes until the mixture appears uniform and milky.
- Phase A: In a main beaker, combine remaining Distilled Water (62.3 g) and the pre-wetted Algica® dispersion slowly and mix for ~15 min.
- Phase B: Combine Shea butter, all oils and Olivem 1000. Heat both water and oil phases separately to ~75°C.
- Emulsify: Add oil phase into water phase under moderate shear. Homogenize until a uniform emulsion forms. Begin cooling with gentle stirring.
- Phase C: Cool-Down: Below 45°C, add Vitamin E, Essential Oil, and Geogard® 221. Mix until homogeneous.
- Finalization: Check pH (target 5.2–5.8). Adjust if needed.
Notes:
Key Formulation Notes (per SAF Guidelines) • Always pre-disperse Algica® before adding to the water phase (pre-wet in glycerin preferred). • Maintain gentle stirring during cooling to avoid separation or settling. • Target use level: 0.10% Algica® (0.10 g per 100 g batch). • Ideal pH range: 5.0–6.0 for Geogard® 221 efficacy. • Temperature stability: >100°C.

Final Product Characteristics: Lightweight and smooth hydrating cream with soft sensory feel.
