CPL Aromas has taken the wraps off AromaHydro, which the UK maker says is a breakthrough technology designed to transform fine fragrance formulation by replacing traditional solvents such as alcohol with water wherever possible.
AromaHydro is a water-based, alcohol-free concentrated formulation that can be diluted with water to create a ready-to-use fine fragrance.
By removing alcohol from the formulation, AromaHydro is said to deliver superior skin feel, enhanced safety, and improved sustainability, while opening the door to advanced fragrance delivery systems.
It also enables brands to reduce environmental impact while simplifying production and logistics.
Traditional ethanol fragrances can require up to 1,000 litres of water for every litre of ethanol produced.
AromaHydro avoids this intensive process entirely, while also eliminating many of the regulatory, labelling, storage, and transportation challenges associated with alcohol-based products, resulting in a more efficient and simpler supply chain.
The new technology allows perfumers to significantly reduce the use of solubilisers eliminating common issues such as stickiness and poor sensory feel, resulting in a cleaner, lighter application that hydrates the skin.
The product is specially formulated for a longer-lasting scent experience on skin.
“AromaHydro reflects a fundamental shift in fragrance formulation,” said Michael White, Global R&D Director at CPL.
“It is a smarter, more adaptable technology that meets modern consumer expectations while delivering long-lasting performance and excellent skin feel,” he added.
“With AromaHydro, we are offering our customers a future-facing fragrance solution, one that is cleaner, safer, and more versatile, without compromising on creativity or performance.”
